Naturally, we understand that not everyone is familiar with the term "Solid oak parquet flooring". Therefore we have created this page in order to give you an impression of our floors!
The solid oak parquet floors at Oakfloorboards.nl
- consist of untreated floorboards made out of 100% French oak, which enables you to lay a beautiful wooden floor to your own taste. The floorboards are mainly rustic, which implies that everything Mother Nature has given the tree, will be exposed. For example, the floor boards usually display a well spaced scattering of small sound knots. They may also show small differences between heartwood and sapwood, or some difference in colouring. This is what gives the floor its own unique look.
- have a timeless beauty which will improve with age.
- can be ordered in varying degrees. You can either order a very rustic floor, or one with a calmer look. We can also offer you a collection that is less rustic, or with nearly no knots in it (See ‘Prices floors’ and ‘Special Offers’).
- are available in two thicknesses: 15mm and 20mm. With a 20mm thick floor you will have the advantage that the oak boards are thick enough to choose a broader size (up to ca. 22cm). The 15mm thick floor will be more likely to dish, when choosing a broader size. Furthermore, the 20mm thick floor is, because of its thickness, always recommended for living rooms and kitchens, hotel- and catering purposes, dance floors etc., dependent on intensity of usage.
- can be ordered in one width, or in a combination of two or more widths. Available in a range of widths.
- have variable lengths per parcel from 60cm up to 250cm.
- are mostly pre-filled and sanded, which means the knots are pre-filled with a mixture of glue and tinted sawdust. To meet our customers’ specific wishes, we regularly offer collections without pre-filling.
- are always accommodated with a tongue and groove connection on each four sides, and narrow tension rails on the bottom side.
- have a smoothly planed surface, with a narrow v-groove on the length sides.
- are very suitable for installing the floating way: simply adjoin the boards in their tongue and groove connection, this makes it quick and easy to instal without any kind of glue. The floating system also enables you to substitute wasted boards caused by e.g. water damage. Besides this it also prevents the boards from bending up to a certain level: due to the use of steel clips on each four sides of the floor the pressure can easily be spread.
